Often referred to as the "poor mans BMW", the 510 made quite a show in the Trans-Am 2.5 series by winning the 1971 and 1972 season championship. Although low on power, these little sedans have full independent rear suspension and in race trim are great handling cars.

Many people may wonder why somebody would want to play around with a 510. Those who know, already know. For the rest of you, here it is.

My design goal for this car was simple: make the quickest possible streetable 510. That's it. Quickness is first and last, it must permeate the car, but the word streetable is in there too: it must be easy to drive on the road.

The Dime, Quarterly was conceived in the mid nineties by a group of 510 enthusiasts from various clubs who felt there was an absence of a strong technically-oriented newsletter written specifically for the 510, or “Dime”. Our goal is to produce a high-quality newsletter with informative technical articles that cover a wide range of topics and skill levels.

This site is dedicated to my datsun 510 sr20det engine conversion. I have spent over 4 years building up this car and over that time have learnt alot about the highs and lows of undertaking an engine conversion. Which ultimately led to a complete rebuild of my Datsun 510.

Please note that this FAQ is an ever-changing information source, combining information and personal experiences from many 510 owners over the years. As such, I would like it to only contain accurate information, but I can make no guarantees about wheels that I haven't actually placed on a 510 myself.
